GUNMEN KIDNAP TWO FARMERS IN ONDO, DEMAND N100 MILLION RANSOM

Two farmers have been abducted by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers in Parubber community, Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The victims were reportedly working on their farms when the armed men attacked and forcefully marched them into a nearby forest.
One of the farmers who escaped the attack, Pastor Yemi Omowale, said the assailants stormed the farm armed with AK-47 rifles and cutlasses.
Omowale, who operates a piggery, disclosed that the kidnappers have since contacted the wife of one of the victims and are demanding ₦100 million as ransom for their release.
“We have reported the incident to the police and the Amotekun Corps in our area. The kidnappers keep calling the victim’s wife to ask how much she has been able to raise. We are appealing to the security agencies and the government to help rescue our brother and sister safely,” he said.
Reacting to the incident, the spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, Jimoh Abayomi, confirmed that a joint security team comprising officers from the Anti-Kidnapping Squad, local hunters and vigilante groups has been deployed to the area to carry out a coordinated search-and-rescue operation.
