OSUN ACCOUNT FREEZE: IPAC COMMENDS TINUBU’S DIRECTIVE TO EFCC

The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) in Osun State has described President Bola Tinubu’s directive to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to vacate the court order freezing the Osun State Government’s accounts as a demonstration of respect for democratic principles and the rule of law.
The council said the President’s intervention has strengthened public confidence in Nigeria’s democratic institutions.
This was contained in a statement issued on Friday in Osogbo by the Chairman of IPAC’s Caretaker Committee in Osun State, Odesola Oluseye Titus.
Odesola commended President Tinubu for directing the EFCC to reverse the account freeze and praised his stance on the independence and professionalism of law enforcement agencies.
He also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigerian Army and other security agencies to emulate the President’s approach by carrying out their constitutional responsibilities with neutrality.
According to him, Tinubu’s directive should serve as a guide for all institutions involved in the conduct of the forthcoming Osun State governorship election scheduled for August 15, 2026.
“The President’s position should guide the conduct of all agencies involved in the electoral process. INEC and the security agencies must ensure their personnel discharge their responsibilities without fear or favour. Impartiality is essential to the credibility of the election,” he said.
Odesola stressed that electoral and security institutions must operate independently and professionally while avoiding actions capable of undermining public confidence in the electoral process.
He urged all stakeholders to respect the rights of voters and ensure that the outcome of the election truly reflects the will of the people through a transparent voting and vote-counting process.
“The voice of the people must be heard and every vote must count. We also urge all political stakeholders in the state to play by the rules and remember that power ultimately belongs to God alone,” he said.
The IPAC chairman further encouraged eligible voters in Osun State to come out in large numbers on election day and perform their civic responsibility, expressing confidence that their votes would count.
