Veteran Nollywood actor Richard Mofe-Damijo, popularly known as RMD, has revealed that he once gave his wife, Jumobi, the first ₦100 million cheque he received.
The 65-year-old actor made the disclosure during an interview with Morayo on The Morayo Show, which began trending on Wednesday.
Describing himself as an “incurable romantic,” RMD said he enjoys showering his wife with gifts because giving gifts is her love language.
According to the actor, one of the greatest compliments he receives from his wife is when she acknowledges that the important things she owns were purchased by him.
He said his idea of romance has evolved over the years, noting that money has become more appealing than traditional gifts such as flowers and chocolates.
Recalling the first time he received a ₦100 million cheque, RMD said he immediately instructed his manager to hand the money to his wife.
He said when Jumobi asked whether she should keep the money for their children, he told her to keep it for herself and spend it however she wished.
RMD, however, admitted that he knew much of the money would eventually be spent on their children.
He said he prefers giving his wife the best things he can afford so she would never have to ask him for anything, adding that many of the valuable items in their home belong to her.
RMD married Jumobi, a former television presenter, in 2000, four years after the death of his first wife, May Ellen Ezekiel.
The couple celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary in December 2025.
The Delta-born actor has four children, with two from his first marriage and two from his current union.
