The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has extended the deadline for candidates offered admission between 2021 and 2026 to accept or reject their outstanding admission offers.

The deadline, which was initially set for Monday, August 31, 2026, has now been moved to Wednesday, September 30, 2026.

The Acting Director of Public Affairs and Protocol, Fabian Benjamin, announced the extension in a statement posted on X on Saturday.

JAMB described the extension as a “final opportunity” for affected candidates to make decisions on their pending admission offers.

The board urged candidates with outstanding regular or CUIIA admission offers to accept or reject them before the new deadline, warning that failure to take action would affect the status of their admissions.

Candidates who accept their offers will be able to proceed with printing their admission letters, while those who reject them will have their dashboards changed to “Not Admitted.”

JAMB explained that the measure would enable it to update its records and ensure that national admission data accurately reflects candidates’ current status.

The board also advised candidates who are no longer studying at the institutions where their previous admissions were offered, or who are now enrolled in different programmes, that they could accept the outstanding offers and subsequently apply for the appropriate correction or deletion.

Candidates currently pursuing a second degree but with earlier unaccepted admission offers may also reject the previous offers and continue with their current programmes.

JAMB clarified that candidates who secured admission during the 2026 admission exercise would not be affected by rejecting an earlier outstanding offer.

The board stressed that the extension was intended to give all affected candidates one final chance to regularise their admission status and help maintain accurate and up-to-date admission records.

JAMB warned that there would be no further extension after September 30, 2026. It added that all outstanding admission offers from 2021 to 2026 that remain neither accepted nor rejected by the deadline would automatically be reverted to “Not Admitted” status.

The board therefore advised all affected candidates to take action immediately, stressing that failure to accept an admission offer within the stipulated period would render the offer invalid.
