Gunfire and explosions were reported across Niger’s capital, Niamey, in the early hours of August 29, as intense clashes continued for more than three hours from about 1:00 a.m.
The fighting was reportedly concentrated around key locations, including Diori Hamani International Airport, the presidential palace and Air Base 101.
The incident marks the third reported attack this year targeting Niamey’s airport and the military base.
