KANO CRACKS DOWN ON FAKE HEALTH WORKERS CONDUCTING ILLEGAL OUTREACH

The Kano State Ministry of Health, in collaboration with the Private Health Institutions Management Agency (PHIMA), the Kano State Centre for Disease Control (KNCDC) and the Kano State Police Command, has arrested several suspects allegedly running an illegal medical outreach in Panshekara, Kumbotso Local Government Area.
The ministry’s spokesperson, Nabilusi Abubakar, said the operation followed credible intelligence from members of the public about the unauthorised medical exercise. A joint enforcement team was deployed to the location, leading to the suspects’ arrest before they were handed over to the police for further investigation.
According to the Commissioner for Health, Abubakar Yusuf, the suspects were operating under the name Brother Paul Legacy Foundation, posing as a non-governmental organisation while issuing registration cards and collecting money from unsuspecting residents under the guise of providing medical services.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects were neither qualified health professionals nor holders of recognised medical certifications. The registration cards, bearing an address in Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, falsely promised free medical treatment to attract victims.
The commissioner urged residents to seek healthcare only from government-approved facilities and licensed professionals, while commending the police and members of the public whose timely information led to the operation. He reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to eliminating quack medical practice and safeguarding public health.
