NIGERIA, INDIA TARGET STRONGER BUSINESS AND INVESTMENT PARTNERSHIP

The Nigerian High Commissioner to India, Saidu Dahiru Muhammad, has pledged to deepen economic, trade and investment relations between Nigeria and India.
Muhammad made the commitment on Monday while presenting his Letters of Credence to Indian President, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, at Rashtrapati Bhavan, the official residence of the Indian President in New Delhi.
During the ceremony, Muhammad conveyed President Bola Tinubu’s goodwill and best wishes to President Murmu and expressed Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening the longstanding bilateral relationship between the two countries.

He described his appointment as both a privilege and a responsibility to advance Nigeria’s interests, noting that relations between the two countries extend beyond diplomacy to include economic, commercial, cultural, educational and people-to-people ties.
The High Commissioner also pledged to promote greater Indian investment in Nigeria, facilitate stronger business-to-business partnerships and create opportunities for Nigerian companies to access the Indian market.
In her remarks, President Murmu welcomed Muhammad and congratulated him on his appointment, stressing that Nigeria-India relations are built on historical ties, mutual respect and shared interests.
She highlighted India’s position as a major business and trading partner of Nigeria and said there was significant potential to expand trade, investment and broader economic cooperation.
President Murmu also commended Indian businesses and investors for their contributions to Nigeria’s economic development and called for stronger private-sector engagement between the two countries.
She expressed confidence that Muhammad’s tenure would further consolidate Nigeria-India relations and wished him success in his diplomatic responsibilities.
