NIMET FORECASTS THREE DAYS OF CLOUDINESS, THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS NIGERIA

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecast cloudy conditions, thunderstorms and varying intensities of rainfall across the country from Wednesday through Friday.
In its weather outlook issued in Abuja on Wednesday, the agency predicted patches of clouds over the northern region, with thunderstorms and moderate rainfall expected on Wednesday morning in parts of Sokoto, Kebbi, Katsina, Kano, Zamfara, Gombe, Bauchi, Taraba and Adamawa states.
Later in the day, thunderstorms accompanied by moderate rainfall are expected over parts of Kaduna and the entire North-East.
For the North-Central region, NiMet forecast cloudy skies with chances of light thunderstorms over the Federal Capital Territory, Plateau and Nasarawa states in the morning, while moderate rainfall is expected later in the day across parts of Benue, Kogi, Kwara, Niger, Nasarawa, Plateau and the FCT.
In the southern region, cloudy conditions are expected throughout the day, with light rainfall likely in parts of the South-South during the morning and moderate rainfall forecast later over Ondo, Ekiti, Oyo, the South-East and the South-South.
On Thursday, NiMet predicted another round of cloudy weather in the northern states, with morning thunderstorms expected in parts of Zamfara, Kebbi, Katsina, Kano, Kaduna, Taraba, Adamawa, Bauchi and Gombe, before spreading to most parts of the region later in the day.
The agency also forecast widespread thunderstorms and moderate rainfall across the North-Central region throughout Thursday, while moderate rainfall is expected over Ondo, the South-East and the South-South.
For Friday, NiMet said thunderstorms with rainfall are likely in parts of Borno, Yobe, Adamawa and Taraba during the morning, before extending to other parts of the northern region later in the day.
Cloudy skies are also expected across the North-Central region, with light morning showers forecast in parts of Nasarawa and Benue, followed by moderate rainfall in the afternoon and evening.
In the South, the agency predicted light rainfall across the South-South in the morning, with moderate rainfall later expected over Ondo, Oyo, Enugu, Imo, the South-East and the South-South.
NiMet warned that strong winds could precede thunderstorms in affected areas and advised residents to secure loose objects to prevent damage.
The agency also urged motorists to avoid driving during heavy rainfall, advised households to disconnect electrical appliances during storms, and cautioned residents against taking shelter under tall trees due to the risk of falling branches.
It further advised airline operators to obtain airport-specific weather reports from NiMet to aid flight planning and encouraged Nigerians to stay updated with its regular weather forecasts.
