The wife of the Anambra State Governor, Mrs. Nonye Soludo, has vowed to ensure justice for a 10-year-old boy allegedly subjected to severe abuse by his guardians in Awada, Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area of the state.
The case gained public attention after disturbing videos showing injuries on the child surfaced on social media, sparking widespread outrage. The boy is currently receiving medical attention under state protection.
In a statement issued on Monday, Mrs. Soludo described the incident as horrific and pledged to personally oversee the child’s recovery and rehabilitation.
She said she had already contacted the state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike, and requested that the child be transferred to a more suitable medical facility for specialised care.
“I am deeply saddened and disturbed by the horrific abuse allegedly suffered by the 10-year-old boy… No child, whatever their crime, deserves to endure such cruelty,” she said.
Mrs. Soludo added that she would ensure the child receives comprehensive medical, emotional, and psychological support for full recovery.
She also called for the prosecution of all individuals connected to the alleged abuse, insisting that justice must be served.
“Those responsible must face the full weight of the law… I will personally follow up on this case to ensure that justice is rightly served,” she stated.
According to her, even the suspect’s husband should be investigated and made to answer for the crime allegedly committed under his roof.
She further reaffirmed the state government’s zero-tolerance stance on child and gender-based abuse, urging members of the public to speak up against such incidents.
Mrs. Soludo also commended those who raised the alarm that led to the exposure of the case, stressing the importance of public vigilance in protecting vulnerable children.
