The Wamufat Youth Community Development Foundation (WYCDF), a United States-based non-profit youth initiative, is set to host the second edition of the Wamufat Sports Camp, Run Ogun, from August 3 to 8, 2026, in partnership with the Nigeria School Sport Federation (NSSF).

The six-day camp will provide free sports coaching, mentorship and character development programmes for children between the ages of 10 and 16, with activities expected to end with a community Race Day celebration on Saturday, August 8.

Participants will receive training in various sports, including athletics, football, chess, netball, golf, ayo and tennis, alongside a daily learning programme centred on values such as gratitude, respect, excellence, teamwork, resilience and integrity.

The organisers said the initiative aims to help young athletes develop discipline, confidence and self-belief while providing a platform for them to showcase their progress during the Race Day event.

The second edition follows the success of the inaugural camp held in August 2025, which attracted more than 450 children at the Agroterra Sports Complex in Joga-Orile, Ogun State.

The maiden edition featured appearances by Nigerian sporting legends, including Olympic medallist Mary Onyali and former Super Eagles player Mutiu Adepoju, who offered mentorship and inspiration to the young participants.

Speaking ahead of the event, WYCDF President, Fatimoh Muhammed, said the foundation is committed to expanding its impact by reaching more children and strengthening mentorship opportunities.

“Last year showed us what’s possible when a community rallies around its children. This second edition is about going further — reaching more children, deepening the mentorship, and reminding every young person that they matter, on and off the field,” she said.

The 2026 edition will again bring together local and international partners, with the Nigeria School Sport Federation overseeing technical delivery and operations.

US-based Run Your City will contribute coaching support and storytelling expertise from its global movement, while Agroterra Resort will serve as the host venue for the sports camp.
