Ahead of Saturday’s bye-election in the Ondo South Senatorial District of Ondo State, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has urged residents to vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Dayo Faduyile.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is conducting the election to fill the vacancy created following the appointment of former senator Jimoh Ibrahim as Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations.

Speaking at the APC’s final campaign rally held in Okitipupa on Thursday, Aiyedatiwa, who was represented by his deputy, Dr Olayide Adelami, appealed to voters to maintain peace during the election and ensure their votes are properly cast and counted.

The governor described Prof. Faduyile, a former President of the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), as the most qualified candidate to represent the district in the Senate.

According to him, Faduyile possesses the experience, intellectual capacity and leadership qualities required to effectively represent the interests of Ondo South at the National Assembly.

He added that the district has enjoyed credible representation in the past, noting that it was important to sustain that standard by electing a candidate with proven competence.

“We have had quality representation in the Senate, and Ondo South cannot afford to lower the bar. Prof. Faduyile has the capacity and pedigree to continue that legacy,” he said.

Aiyedatiwa also expressed confidence in the growing popularity of the APC in the state, reaffirming the party’s commitment to delivering strong support for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.

Earlier, the APC State Chairman, Babatunde Kolawole, called on party members and supporters to intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the poll, assuring them of the party’s readiness for victory.

Similarly, Chairman of the Campaign Committee, Pastor Femi Agagu, described Faduyile as a highly qualified candidate whose credentials and public acceptance make him a strong contender in the election.
