The Nigeria Police Force has assured residents, voters, electoral officials and other stakeholders of adequate security arrangements ahead of Saturday’s Ekiti State governorship election.

The Supervising Deputy Inspector-General of Police for the election, Mustapha Fayoade, gave the assurance during a meeting with police officers and security stakeholders in Ado Ekiti on Thursday.

According to him, the police, working alongside other security agencies, have deployed sufficient personnel and logistics to guarantee a peaceful and secure electoral process before, during and after the poll.

Fayoade urged all security personnel assigned to election duties to maintain professionalism, discipline and strict adherence to the rule of law while carrying out their responsibilities.

He also emphasized the need for effective collaboration among security agencies involved in election operations, stressing that teamwork is essential to ensuring a credible and violence-free exercise.

The DIG called on political actors, voters and other stakeholders to cooperate with security agencies, obey the law and contribute to a peaceful atmosphere throughout the election period.

Fayoade is being supported by Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Dr. Olanrewaju Ogunlowo. Both officers were deployed by the Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, to coordinate security operations and ensure a smooth electoral process.

Reaffirming the force’s readiness, Fayoade stated that comprehensive measures had been put in place to protect voters, election officials and sensitive materials throughout the exercise.

Earlier, the Ekiti State Election Commissioner of Police, Abayomi Shogunle, assured residents that the police had established a multi-layered security framework aimed at ensuring a hitch-free election across the state.
