ONDO HELICOPTER CRASH: KEYAMO CONFIRMS 32 ON BOARD ILL-FATED CHOPPER

By: Fasasi Hammad
It is with deep regret that I inform the general public that Air Traffic Controllers reported the disappearance of a military aircraft, with tail number NGR 931, while en route from Benin to Lagos at approximately 0913 hours today. Efforts to establish radio communication with the aircraft were unsuccessful.
Subsequent reports confirmed that the aircraft had crashed near the Naval Base in Igbokoda, Ondo State. The wreckage has been located, and search and rescue operations are currently underway.
Preliminary reports indicate that 25 passengers and 7 crew members were on board the aircraft at the time of the incident.
Although the control and regulation of military aircraft fall outside the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Aviation and the Civil Aviation Authority, I have spoken with the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, and assured him of our full cooperation and support for the ongoing search and rescue efforts.
