The Ondo State Police Command has arrested more than 200 suspected criminals across the state in the past two months.
Police spokesperson, Mr. Olayinka Ayanlade, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, attributing the feat to the strategic leadership of the Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, and the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun. He also noted the close collaboration with the Ondo State government, led by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

According to him, 208 suspects were apprehended for offences including kidnapping, murder, rape, armed robbery, cultism, vehicle and motorcycle theft, and fraudulent property conversion.
Out of the total arrests, 99 suspects have been arraigned in court, with 35 convictions already secured.
Highlighting recent successes, Ayanlade said police arrested all those involved in the killing of two Adekunle Ajasin University students within 72 hours. In another case, a commercial motorcycle operator who served as an informant for kidnappers, along with his gang, was arrested in connection with the abduction of an AAUA staff member.
The police also recovered 25 firearms, including prohibited rifles, locally fabricated pistols, and a Beretta pistol, as well as 12 stolen vehicles from criminal syndicates.
Ayanlade urged residents to remain vigilant and provide actionable intelligence, while warning against collusion with criminals. “Security is a collective responsibility. All hands must remain on deck to rid Ondo State of criminality and ensure a safer society for everyone,” he said.
