A passenger has been confirmed dead, while three others sustained injuries in a road accident involving two commercial tricycles in Jos, Plateau State.

The crash occurred on Monday evening along Haske Road near Lamingo Golf Club when two tricycles, popularly known as Keke Napep, collided.

An eyewitness, Joseph Haruna, told The PUNCH that the incident happened around 5 p.m. after one of the tricycle operators reportedly attempted to avoid a pothole and collided with an oncoming tricycle.

He said the impact of the collision left one passenger dead at the scene, while three others sustained varying degrees of injuries.

“The injured victims were immediately evacuated by sympathisers and emergency responders to a nearby hospital for medical attention,” he said.

Another witness described the incident as unfortunate and called on relevant authorities to repair potholes along the road, warning that they pose serious risks to motorists and other road users.

The crash led to temporary traffic congestion in the area as residents gathered at the scene.

When contacted, the Public Education Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps in Plateau State, Peter Longsan, said details of the incident would be verified.
