The Osun State Police Command has declared Nurudeen Alowonle and Adeyemi Ojo, popularly known as Sibi, wanted in connection with the killing of Olalekan Oyeyemi Ajagungbade, an aide to Governor Ademola Adeleke, in Ile-Ife.

The command also announced the arrest of six suspects over the murder, adding that efforts were ongoing to apprehend the two principal suspects and other individuals allegedly linked to the crime.

The Commissioner of Police in Osun State, CP Ibrahim Zungura, disclosed this on Monday during a press briefing at the command headquarters, where he provided updates on the investigation and other operational activities.

According to the police, the incident occurred on September 13, 2026, following a distress call reporting that armed men had invaded Mayfair Garage in Ile-Ife and fired indiscriminately.

The attack reportedly led to the death of Ajagungbade, popularly known as Emir.

Zungura said he subsequently directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department to oversee the case and ensure a comprehensive investigation.

He explained that sustained investigations by the homicide section, with support from the commandant of the Osun State Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun, led to the arrest of four suspects.

The suspects were identified as Tijani Ismail, Akinsola Ekundayo, Sijuade Moruf Oyinlola and Ayeni Adegbola Olalekan.

The police commissioner said further investigations resulted in the arrest of Hammed Olalekan Dauda, also known as Jagaban, who was allegedly involved in the crime. A cut-to-size firearm was also recovered from him.

According to Zungura, Dauda allegedly confessed during interrogation that Alowonle had supplied him with the firearm.

He added that the police also arrested Waliu Adejare, popularly known as Jay Jay, who was identified as Alowonle’s personal assistant, in connection with the incident.

Zungura alleged that Alowonle and Ojo, also known as Sibi, mobilised the suspects involved in the attack.

He assured the public that the command was intensifying efforts to track down the two wanted men and other suspects still at large as investigations continued.
