A truck accidentally brought down a high-tension electricity line serving the WiseBuyers Supermarket Distribution Transformer in Arepo, Ogun State, on Monday night, damaging two electricity poles and disrupting power infrastructure in the area.

The incident, which occurred at about 9 p.m., left one of the poles tilting dangerously while several high-tension cables were left hanging low, posing a serious risk to motorists, pedestrians, nearby businesses and residents.

In a public notice issued on Tuesday, the Secretary of the Electricity Committee of the Arepo Area Community Development Council, Akinlolu Akinpelumi, urged residents to stay away from the affected area and exercise caution.

According to Akinpelumi, the truck accidentally pulled down the high-tension line supplying the WiseBuyers Distribution Transformer, causing extensive damage to two electricity poles and related infrastructure.

He warned residents not to touch, move or drive over the damaged poles or hanging cables, stressing that they posed a significant safety hazard.

Akinpelumi disclosed that the incident had been reported to Ikeja Electric, adding that the electricity distribution company was working with technical teams to secure the damaged infrastructure and begin repairs.

He noted that the damage could lead to a temporary power outage for customers connected to the WiseBuyers Distribution Transformer until restoration work is completed.

He also appealed to residents to remain calm, cooperate with emergency and technical personnel, and promptly report any additional hazards in the area while repair work continues.
