POLICE ARREST SIX SUSPECTS OVER ATTACK ON VILLAGERS IN KATSINA

The Katsina State Police Command has arrested six suspects in connection with a violent attack on villagers in Keku Village, Musawa Local Government Area of Katsina State.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, and made available to journalists on Friday in Katsina.

According to the statement, the incident occurred on Wednesday at about 2:00 p.m. when a group of six men allegedly attacked residents of Keku Village using sticks and machetes, leaving several people with varying degrees of injuries.

Following a distress report, operatives of the police responded swiftly to the scene and arrested the suspects.

The arrested individuals were identified as Dayyabu Salisu (25), Usama Mansur (23), Yunusa Nura (27), Abdulmumini Alka (23), Buhari Suleiman (27), and Abubakar Safiyanu (27).

The police said machetes, sticks, and motorcycles were recovered from the suspects as exhibits.

Preliminary investigation reportedly revealed that the suspects conspired to disrupt the peaceful Sallah celebration and breach public order in the community.

The statement added that prompt intervention by operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) prevented the situation from escalating further.

The injured victims were taken to a nearby hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment and responding positively.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Ali Umar Fage, condemned the attack and assured residents of the command’s commitment to maintaining law and order across the state.

He urged members of the public to remain calm, cooperate with security agencies, and report suspicious activities through designated emergency lines.

The command reiterated its zero-tolerance stance on thuggery, mob violence, and any acts capable of disrupting public peace in the state.
