By Aishat Momoh. O.

The Anambra State Government, through the Anambra State Signage and Advertisement Agency, has announced permit fees for political parties and candidates seeking to deploy campaign materials and conduct outdoor political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The announcement was made on Friday during a press briefing in Awka by the Assistant General Manager of the agency, Chika Ngobili.
According to the agency, the new guidelines are aimed at regulating outdoor political advertising, ensuring orderliness, and preventing environmental and visual pollution during election campaigns.
Under the approved fee structure, presidential candidates are required to pay N50 million for outdoor campaign permits, while senatorial candidates will pay N20 million.
House of Representatives candidates are expected to pay N5 million, while candidates for the Anambra State House of Assembly will pay N1.5 million.
Local government chairmanship aspirants are to pay N2.5 million, while councillorship candidates will pay N100,000 to obtain permits for outdoor campaign activities.
Ngobili explained that the permits cover campaign materials and activities such as posters, branded vehicles, banners, fliers, public address systems, street campaigns, rallies, and other promotional tools within approved locations.
He said the guidelines were introduced in line with the regulatory framework governing political advertising in the state and ahead of the official lifting of the campaign ban by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The agency added that all campaign materials must be vetted and approved by the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON) before deployment.
ANSAA also warned political parties and candidates against the destruction or defacement of opponents’ campaign materials, describing such acts as unlawful and inconsistent with democratic principles.
It further prohibited indiscriminate posting of campaign materials on public infrastructure such as road signs, bridges, schools, hospitals, and utility installations.
The agency stated that enforcement teams would monitor compliance throughout the campaign period, warning that violators would face sanctions under the laws of Anambra State.
Ngobili urged political actors to conduct campaigns peacefully and responsibly, stressing that elections should not be treated as a “do-or-die affair.”
He also called on journalists and media practitioners to support efforts aimed at ensuring a peaceful and orderly campaign environment ahead of the elections.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is expected to release the official timetable and guidelines for the 2027 general elections, which will usher in new administrations at both federal and state levels.
