LAGOS GOVT GIVES POLICE 2,000 COWRY CARDS TO EASE TRANSPORTATION

The Lagos State Government has presented 2,000 Cowry Cards to the Lagos State Police Command to ease the transportation burden of police personnel serving across the state.
The cards were presented by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Transportation and Logistics, Hassan Adekoya, to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, who was represented by the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex, Lagos, AIG Simeon U. Akpanudom.
Under the state government’s transportation support programme, the 2,000 beneficiaries will enjoy free transportation for three months on designated Lagos State Government transport services.
The services covered include the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), Electric Boats, Blue Line and Red Line rail services.
After the initial three-month period, the beneficiaries will continue to enjoy a 50 per cent discount on transportation fares.
Speaking on the initiative, AIG Akpanudom conveyed the appreciation of the Inspector-General of Police to Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu for what he described as a thoughtful intervention and continued support for police welfare.
He said the gesture would help reduce the transportation burden on police personnel, boost their morale and further strengthen the partnership between the Lagos State Government and the Nigeria Police Force in promoting public safety, security and good governance.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, assured that the Cowry Cards would be distributed to deserving officers in a fair and transparent manner.
Fatai also said the cards would be used strictly for the purpose for which they were provided, warning against abuse or misuse.
He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to professionalism and accountability, adding that available resources would continue to be deployed towards ensuring a safer Lagos for residents.
