POLICE ARREST THREE OVER ABDUCTION, ASSAULT OF EKITI LCDA CHAIRMAN

The Ekiti State Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with the alleged abduction and assault of the Chairman of Ikere-West Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Rufus Olorunfemi, and another individual, Funso Ajayi.
The Commissioner of Police in Ekiti State, Michael Falade, has ordered a comprehensive investigation into the incident.
According to a statement issued on Friday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Sunday Abutu, preliminary findings showed that at about 9 p.m. on June 3, 2026, three Hilux vehicles carrying armed men dressed in camouflage reportedly intercepted Olorunfemi and Ajayi along Anoye Street in Ikere-Ekiti and forcibly took them away.

Abutu said the victims were allegedly taken to the residence of a prominent politician, where they were severely assaulted before being released.
He disclosed that three suspects have been arrested and are currently undergoing investigation, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other individuals believed to be involved in the attack.
“The suspects will be charged to court immediately after investigations are concluded,” Abutu stated.
The police spokesperson reiterated the command’s commitment to ensuring justice and warned residents, particularly political party supporters, against taking the law into their own hands or engaging in acts capable of inciting violence.
He added that the command would continue to uphold safety, justice, fairness, professionalism, the rule of law, and respect for the rights of all citizens.
