Preliminary investigations revealed that three suspects — Hammed Akinbami, Akinbami Ojo and Padonu Edward, all residents of Oloba Village — allegedly invaded the home of Ifeanyi Chukwu, his wife and their four children.

During the attack, Hammed Akinbami allegedly shot the husband, while Akinbami Ojo and Padonu Edward reportedly inflicted injuries on the wife by hitting her on the head.
The attack later turned fatal when the suspects allegedly tied two of the children by their hands and legs and threw them into a nearby river. The remaining members of the family were also allegedly killed, with their bodies disposed of in the same river.
As part of the investigation, detectives visited the scene, where photographs were taken and several exhibits recovered. The items included the family’s Boxer motorcycle, a locally made Dane gun, two cutlasses and the club allegedly used during the attack.
The three suspects were subsequently arrested and detained. During interrogation, the police said they confessed to their alleged involvement in the crime.
The remains of the woman have since been recovered, while efforts are ongoing to recover the remains of the four other victims who were allegedly dumped in the river.
