The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested a tiler, Samuel Net, over the suspected homicide of a hotel staff member, Joseph Terdoo, at a hotel in the Utako District of Abuja.
The command’s spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, saying the incident followed a distress report received by the Utako Divisional Police Headquarters in the early hours of Tuesday, October 20, 2026.
Adeh said police officers dispatched to the hotel traced suspicious noise and activity to Room 301, where Net, who had been hired by the hotel as a tiler, was found with marks of violence on his body.
Terdoo, a staff member of the hotel, was also found unconscious on the floor with multiple marks of violence.
According to the statement, Terdoo was rushed to Wuse District Hospital, where medical personnel confirmed him dead on arrival.
The police said preliminary investigations indicated that the two men had a disagreement that escalated into a physical confrontation.
“Further investigations revealed that the two men had a disagreement which degenerated into a physical confrontation. Samuel pushed Joseph, who fell and hit his head on a wooden object; he fell and collapsed,” the statement read.
The command said Net had been arrested as investigations into the circumstances surrounding Terdoo’s death continued.
The FCT Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Sanusi, urged residents to avoid violence and taking the law into their own hands when resolving disagreements.
He encouraged residents to embrace peaceful and diplomatic means of settling disputes and report suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station.
The command also provided its emergency contact numbers, 08032003913 and 08061581938, for members of the public to report security concerns.
