He stated that preliminary investigations indicated that Adewusi had allegedly admitted to being a member of the Eiye Confraternity.
The police spokesperson added that a follow-up operation was conducted at about 6:30am on Tuesday, October 27, following information obtained from the arrested suspect.
During the operation, operatives recovered a second locally made pistol and a battle axe from a separate location. The items were secured as exhibits.
Babaseyi said the operation demonstrated the command’s commitment to acting on credible intelligence beyond making arrests and preventing dangerous weapons from circulating illegally.
He added that efforts were ongoing to apprehend other suspected accomplices and recover additional weapons, while investigations continued to establish the full circumstances of the case.
The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Bode Ojajuni, commended the operatives for their vigilance, professionalism and effective use of intelligence.
Ojajuni reaffirmed the command’s determination to dismantle criminal networks, disrupt cult-related activities and curb the illegal possession of firearms across the state.
He also urged residents to provide timely and credible information about suspected criminal activities, assuring them that the police would continue to act on actionable intelligence to protect lives and property and maintain public safety.
