POLICE RESCUE 25-YEAR-OLD WOMAN, ARREST SUSPECT IN DELTA

The Delta State Police Command has rescued a 25-year-old woman who was allegedly assaulted and held hostage in Usiefrurun Community, Ughelli South Local Government Area of the state.
The police also arrested a 29-year-old suspect, identified as Brotugbare Francis Onome, in connection with the incident.
The operation, carried out on October 3, 2026, around 8:30 a.m., also led to the recovery of a locally fabricated Beretta pistol, one magazine and two rounds of live ammunition from the premises.
The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident in a statement issued in Warri.
According to Edafe, the Divisional Police Officer of Otu-Jeremi Division, acting on credible intelligence from the DPO of Ovwian-Aladja Division, mobilised operatives to Usiefrurun Community, where the woman was reportedly being assaulted and held hostage.
He said the victim was rescued while the main suspect, Brotugbare Francis Onome, was arrested.
Edafe added that a search of the premises led to the recovery of the fabricated pistol, magazine and live ammunition.
He said investigation into the incident is ongoing.
