Russia warmed up for Tuesday’s international friendly against Nigeria with an emphatic 6-0 victory over Namibia on Saturday.
The hosts took a narrow 1-0 lead into the break before stepping up their performance in the second half to secure a comfortable win in Yekaterinburg.
Lechi Sadulaev opened the scoring for Russia in the 37th minute, while Danil Prutsev doubled the advantage nine minutes into the second half.
Konstantin Tyukavin added a third goal in the 65th minute before Maksim Glushenkov made it 4-0 with six minutes of regulation time remaining.
Maksim Petrov then converted from the spot three minutes later to put Russia five goals ahead.
Namibia’s difficult evening was compounded in stoppage time when Kamaijanda Ndisiro turned the ball into his own net to complete the rout.
Russia will now turn their attention to Tuesday’s encounter with the Super Eagles at the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium.
Nigeria’s most recent meeting with Russia ended in a 1-1 draw in June 2025, with Tolu Arokodare cancelling out Semi Ajayi’s own goal.
