POLICE RESCUE ABDUCTED TEENAGER IN OYO FOREST OPERATION

The Oyo State Police Command has rescued a 17-year-old boy, Daneri Alhaji Yaro, who was abducted in the early hours of August 5, 2026, at Aladere Village, via Ikoyi-Ile, near the Government Reserve Forest.
The command said the successful rescue demonstrates its commitment to protecting lives and ensuring criminals have no safe haven in the state.
According to a statement, the operation followed a distress report lodged by the victim’s father, Alhaji Yaro Babuga, at the Ikoyi-Ile Divisional Police Headquarters.
Acting on the report, the Divisional Police Officer immediately deployed a joint security team comprising police operatives, personnel of the Amotekun Corps, local vigilantes and hunters to launch a coordinated search-and-rescue operation.
The combined team carried out an intensive search of the surrounding bushes and adjoining forest, mounting sustained pressure on the kidnappers.

Unable to withstand the security operation, the abductors abandoned the victim and fled deeper into the Government Reserve Forest.
The teenager was rescued unharmed and has since been reunited with his family.
The police said intelligence-led operations have been intensified in the forest and surrounding communities to track down and arrest the fleeing suspects.
The command added that investigations are ongoing and efforts are being sustained to ensure those responsible are brought to justice.
The Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, commended the police, Amotekun Corps, local vigilantes and hunters for their bravery, professionalism and effective collaboration during the rescue mission.
He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to intelligence-driven policing and strengthened inter-agency cooperation in tackling violent crime across the state.
The commissioner also urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to support ongoing security operations and enhance public safety in Oyo State.
