The Lagos State Police Command has rescued a suspected vandal, identified as Umar Biliaminu, from a mob after he was allegedly caught stealing barbed wire in the Iju area of the state.
The Command’s spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, disclosed this in a post on his X (formerly Twitter) handle on Friday.
According to Hundeyin, the incident occurred around 8:40 p.m. on August 21, 2025, when Biliaminu was apprehended while attempting to cart away barbed wire from a perimeter fence.
In the process of resisting arrest, the suspect reportedly injured one of those trying to apprehend him with a pair of scissors, sparking mob violence.
“This prompted mob action on him. Patrol officers from Iju Police Division raced to the scene and rescued him,” Hundeyin stated.
He further said investigations were ongoing and assured that both the suspect and those behind the mob attack would face justice.
“Efforts are ongoing to apprehend those behind this barbaric act of jungle justice. Say NO to jungle justice!” he added.
