Real Madrid CF has confirmed that it has submitted a written statement to UEFA’s disciplinary bodies concerning the ongoing “Negreira case.”
In the statement, the club said it has presented what it described as significant evidence reinforcing earlier indications of prolonged and allegedly opaque payments made by FC Barcelona to José María Enríquez Negreira, former vice-president of the Technical Committee of Referees of the Royal Spanish Football Federation, through various corporate entities.
Real Madrid argued that the developments raise serious concerns from a sporting disciplinary perspective, describing them as a potential threat to the integrity of competitions. The club claimed the alleged arrangement suggests undue influence within the refereeing structure, which it said undermines principles of fairness, neutrality, and competitive balance.
The club urged UEFA to resume disciplinary proceedings previously opened on the matter, expressing concern that the process has remained unresolved for too long. It called for a strong and immediate response within the sporting framework, separate from ongoing judicial proceedings.
Real Madrid further requested that UEFA, within its independent authority, consider appropriate disciplinary and corrective measures to safeguard transparency and integrity in football competitions, while noting that such actions should not interfere with the role of judicial authorities.
The club also stated that it continues to participate in ongoing legal proceedings as a private prosecutor and will pursue all necessary legal avenues as the case progresses.
Reaffirming its stance, Real Madrid said it remains committed to protecting the core values of sport and ensuring that any conduct deemed detrimental to football’s integrity does not go unaddressed.
