LAGOS GOVERNMENT ANNOUNCES SCHEDULE FOR 2026 BASIC EDUCATION CERTIFICATE EXAMINATION

The Lagos State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, through the Lagos State Examinations Board (LSEB) has announced the release of the official timetable for the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

A statement issued by the Registrar of the Lagos State Examinations Board, Mr. Adebayo Orunsolu said the examination will be held from Monday 29th June and conclude on Monday 6th July, 2026.

While disclosing that the examination remains a significant academic milestone in the educational journey of students across the State, Orunsolu urged parents, guardians and school administrators to take note of the examination timetable and ensure strict adherence to all guidelines issued by the Board.

According to him, the BECE serves as the official transition examination for students in public and approved private schools advancing from Junior Secondary School to Senior Secondary School.

The Registrar emphasised the importance of adequate preparation for candidates, noting that schools are expected to ensure that all eligible candidates are fully ready and compliant with the examination requirements.

He further assured stakeholders that the Lagos State Examinations Board has concluded all necessary administrative and logistical arrangements to guarantee a seamless, transparent and credible examination process across the State.

Reaffirming the State Government’s commitment to maintaining the highest standards of integrity in public examinations, Orunsolu reiterated the Lagos State Government’s zero-tolerance stance on examination malpractice. He warned that any form of disruption of the examination process, malpractice or misconduct would attract appropriate disciplinary sanctions in accordance with established regulations.

The Registrar reassured that the Lagos State Government remains committed to promoting academic excellence and upholding the integrity of the educational assessment system.
