SECURITY OFFICER SHOT DEAD IN SUSPECTED CULT ATTACK IN LAGOS ESTATE

A security officer identified only as Stanley has been shot dead in a suspected cult-related attack at Royale Estate in the Sangotedo area of Lagos State.
The incident reportedly occurred on Friday night between 10pm and 11pm when suspected cultists stormed the estate and opened fire.
It was learnt on Monday that Stanley, who was on duty at the estate, was shot several times, including in the head, before the attackers reportedly fired into the air and fled the scene.
A source who spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of reprisal said, “They just stormed the estate and started shooting. Stanley, the security man on duty, was shot several times, and in the head too, before they shot in the air and fled the area.”
The incident was also reported on social media platform NaijaConfra, where users shared videos and posts alleging that suspected cult members carried out the attack.
Confirming the incident on Monday, the Lagos State Police Command spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi, said the victim was shot by two unidentified persons riding a motorcycle.
“The incident occurred. He was shot by two unknown individuals on a motorcycle. The command has launched an investigation into the incident. No suspect yet,” she said.
The latest incident comes weeks after another security guard, identified as Godwin, was allegedly killed by suspected cultists in the Abule Ijesha area of Yaba, Lagos State.
Godwin was reportedly attacked near his duty post after assailants arrived in a vehicle, shot him and allegedly attacked him with an axe. Three other people were also reportedly injured during the incident.
The latest killing has renewed concerns over the safety of security personnel and residents in parts of Lagos, as police authorities continue investigations into the Sangotedo attack.
