The family of Adebayo Adelabu has confirmed the abduction of his younger sister, Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, in Ibadan, Oyo State.

According to a statement issued on Wednesday by Adelabu’s media aide, Comrade Femi Awogboro, the victims were kidnapped by armed men at about 7:30 a.m. while Mrs. John-Paul was taking her children to school.

The family disclosed that the gunmen forcefully seized Mrs. John-Paul, 43, along with her sons during the incident.

Mrs. John-Paul, the youngest of five children born to Mrs. Olufunmilayo Aduke Adegoke Adelabu, previously worked with the Central Bank of Nigeria and First Bank Pension Custodian before retiring voluntarily last year. She subsequently relocated to Ibadan with her children while making plans to join her husband, Mr. John Paul, who resides in the United States.

The family said security and law enforcement agencies were immediately notified after the incident and have since launched investigations. Authorities are reportedly working to secure the victims’ safe release and bring the perpetrators to justice.

While expressing deep concern over the development, Adelabu and his family said they remain hopeful that security agencies will successfully rescue Mrs. John-Paul and her children.

They also appealed to members of the public to remain calm, avoid spreading rumours, and refrain from sharing unverified information that could undermine ongoing rescue efforts.

The family further urged anyone with credible information that could assist investigators to report it through the appropriate security channels.

They pledged continued cooperation with security authorities and said further updates would be provided as the situation develops.
