SEUN KUTI BREAKS SILENCE ON ALLEGED WALKOUT AT PELLER’S WEDDING

Seun Kuti has dismissed reports claiming he stormed out of content creator Peller’s wedding in anger over jokes referencing the “Wizkid is bigger than Fela” debate.

The rumours gained traction after a viral video showed the Afrobeat musician leaving the event while saying, “We are in the wrong place,” prompting speculation that he was offended by remarks made by one of the event’s MCs.

The incident sparked widespread reactions on social media, with one of the MCs later alleging that Seun has anger management issues.

Addressing the claims while speaking with Fuji singer Malaika at the New Afrika Shrine, Seun denied leaving the wedding in anger.

He explained that he remained at the ceremony until about 8:30 p.m. before departing for another event at his late father Fela Kuti’s shrine.

“I left Peller’s wedding around 8:30 p.m. because I had to attend an event at the Shrine. Bloggers claimed I left angrily. Was I supposed to be dancing when I was rushing to another engagement?” he said.

The controversy stems from the long-running “Wizkid is bigger than Fela” debate, which resurfaced after Wizkid made the statement during an online exchange with Seun Kuti in January 2026 over the legacy of the late Afrobeat icon.

Wizkid’s remarks sparked widespread debate among fans, celebrities and political figures.
