Spain have reached the semi-finals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup after defeating Belgium 2-1 in a thrilling quarter-final encounter on Friday.
Fabian Ruiz opened the scoring for Spain in the 30th minute before Belgium responded through Charles De Ketelaere, who levelled the contest in the 41st minute.
Mikel Merino once again proved decisive for Spain, scoring a late winner in the 88th minute to send La Roja into the last four of the tournament.
The victory sets up a mouth-watering semi-final clash between Spain and France.
France booked their place in the semi-finals on Thursday after defeating Morocco 2-0, with goals from Kylian Mbappe and Ousmane Dembele sealing victory for Les Bleus.
