SPOTIFY SUFFERS GLOBAL OUTAGE AS THOUSANDS OF USERS REPORT DISRUPTIONS

Spotify experienced a widespread outage in the United States and other parts of the world on September 29, with thousands of users reporting difficulties accessing the music streaming platform.

According to outage-tracking website Downdetector, more than 15,000 users in the US and about 19,000 users globally reported disruptions to the service. Reports surged sharply within a short period.

Users attempting to access Spotify were met with an “Something went wrong” error message while trying to stream music. Downdetector data indicated that the disruption affected several regions worldwide, with reports beginning shortly before 10 a.m. New York time, or 3 p.m. in the UK.

Spotify acknowledged the problem on its official X account, saying, “We’re aware of some issues right now and are checking them out!”

The company did not provide details about the cause of the outage or indicate when the service would be fully restored.

The disruption appeared to affect both mobile and desktop users, although the extent of the problems varied. Some mobile users reported difficulties searching for artists, while others were still able to stream songs.

Downdetector’s data showed that about 59 per cent of reported issues were related to the Spotify app, while 21 per cent involved audio streaming and 13 per cent concerned server connections.

Spotify has about 800 million users worldwide, including roughly 300 million paying subscribers, and its service is available in 184 countries.
