President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Governor Biodun Oyebanji on his victory in Saturday’s Ekiti State governorship election.
The President commended the people of Ekiti State for what he described as their peaceful and orderly conduct, as well as their confidence in returning Oyebanji to office.
In a statement issued on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu also lauded security agencies for ensuring law and order throughout the election process.
He urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to continue strengthening the conduct of credible, peaceful, and transparent elections ahead of the Osun governorship poll in August and the 2027 general elections.
According to the statement, Oyebanji’s decisive victory makes him the first governor in Ekiti State history to secure back-to-back re-election.

The President noted that the governor’s first term delivered notable achievements in infrastructure, agriculture, youth empowerment, education, healthcare, and rural development under the BAO agenda.
He said the renewed mandate reflects a strong vote of confidence in continuity, stability, and people-focused governance.
Tinubu also urged Oyebanji to remain magnanimous in victory and to continue fostering inclusiveness in his administration as he begins his second term.
He encouraged other candidates who participated in the election to accept the outcome in good faith and support efforts to further develop the state.
The President further praised all contestants for exercising their democratic rights, stressing the importance of unity in advancing the progress of Ekiti State.
The Independent National Electoral Commission had earlier declared Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress (APC) winner of the election after he polled 319,224 votes, defeating his rivals from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olumayokun Oluyede, and the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dare Bejide.
Tinubu reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to partnering with the Ekiti State Government under the Renewed Hope Agenda to deliver more dividends of democracy.
He also prayed for continued wisdom, strength, and good health for the governor as he serves the people of Ekiti State.
