TINUBU GRIEVES OVER DEATH OF EAGLE ONLINE PUBLISHER, DOTUN OLADIPO

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has mourned the passing of journalist and publisher of The Eagle Online, Dotun Oladipo, describing his death as a significant loss to Nigeria’s media community and the country.

In a condolence statement released on Wednesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu described Oladipo as a dedicated journalist who made notable contributions to political reporting and digital journalism.

Oladipo, who previously served as Political Editor of PUNCH Newspapers, died on Tuesday at the age of 56.

The President praised his efforts in providing Nigerians with credible information and promoting public discourse through both conventional and digital media platforms.

Tinubu said Oladipo’s professional career reflected the vital role of journalism in sustaining democracy through informing citizens, demanding accountability from public officials and facilitating meaningful discussions.

He also commended Oladipo for contributing to the development of online journalism through The Eagle Online, which he founded after his years at PUNCH.

The President expressed sympathy to Oladipo’s family, friends and colleagues, especially members of the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers, where the late journalist served as president from 2017 to 2021.

Tinubu prayed for the repose of Oladipo’s soul and asked God to comfort and strengthen his family and loved ones during the period of mourning.
