TINUBU’S VISIT: SANWO-OLU MEETS SECURITY CHIEFS

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has assured residents and visitors of enhanced security as the state prepares to host President Bola Tinubu and welcomes increased activity during the end-of-year period.
Sanwo-Olu gave the assurance on Tuesday during a security council meeting with heads of security agencies at the State House, Marina.
According to the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, the meeting focused on security operations and measures to strengthen the state’s security ahead of upcoming activities.
Omotoso said the governor was briefed on security plans for the President’s visit, the Yuletide season and the expected influx of visitors into Lagos.
Sanwo-Olu said the government would continue to implement measures to prevent criminal activities and protect residents and visitors.
“We will not relent on our efforts to ensure that criminals don’t find a place for their evil activities in our state,” the governor said.
Omotoso added that Lagos would host President Tinubu from Tuesday, with several religious, cultural and other activities expected across the state during the festive period.
He also noted that political activities were increasing following the Independent National Electoral Commission’s announcement on the commencement of campaigns.
The meeting was attended by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai; Commander, 9 Brigade, Ikeja, Brig. Gen. A.O. Owolabi; Commander, Nigerian Navy Ship Beecroft, Commodore A. Adams-Aliu; Commander, 651 Base Services Group, Ikeja, Air Commodore M.A. Imam; and Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund, Ayodele Ogunsan.
Other officials present included the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Tayo Ayinde; Secretary to the State Government, Abimbola Hundeyin; and Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General, Lawal Pedro.
The meeting comes as Lagos prepares for increased movement and activities linked to the President’s visit, the festive season, and upcoming political, religious and cultural events.
