Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued two people abducted by terrorists along the Anka–Gadan Manya Road in Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The victims were rescued after troops swiftly responded to an attack on two people travelling on a motorcycle on September 4, 2026.
Military authorities said the troops were conducting a routine patrol in the area when they spotted armed terrorists attacking the travellers.
The troops immediately moved towards the scene, forcing the attackers to flee into the surrounding terrain and abandon their victims.
The two abducted persons were subsequently rescued by the troops without further harm.
Following the incident, security forces intensified patrols and other operations in the area to restrict the movement of terrorists and other criminal elements.
The military said the increased security presence was also aimed at protecting residents and road users while strengthening security along major routes against further attacks and abductions.
It added that the sustained patrols were part of ongoing operations under Operation FANSAN YAMMA to disrupt terrorist activities, protect communities and restore freedom of movement across affected areas of Zamfara State.
