United States President Donald Trump will attend the World Cup final in New Jersey on July 19 and jointly present the trophy to the winning team, FIFA President Gianni Infantino has announced.

Infantino disclosed this on Tuesday during an interview with Fox and Friends, saying both leaders would be present at the final ceremony.

“We will be together with the president enjoying the final and handing the trophy to the winner, of course, together,” Infantino said.

The FIFA president has maintained a close relationship with Trump in recent years, including awarding him a newly created FIFA peace prize at the World Cup draw in Washington last year.

The upcoming joint trophy presentation comes after controversy surrounding the Club World Cup final in New Jersey last year, where Trump presented the trophy to Chelsea captain Reece James following their victory over Paris Saint-Germain.

However, the former president remained on stage longer than expected, briefly joining the team’s celebrations in a moment that drew mixed reactions.

The World Cup final appearance is expected to further highlight Trump’s involvement in high-profile sporting events ahead of the tournament climax.
