TUNISIA APPOINTS MOINE CHAABANI AS NATIONAL TEAM COACH

The Tunisian Football Federation (FTF) has appointed Moine Chaabani as the new head coach of the national team on a four-year contract following the country’s disappointing World Cup campaign.
The FTF confirmed the appointment in a statement on Tuesday, ending days of speculation over Chaabani’s expected return to manage the Carthage Eagles.
The 45-year-old succeeds a succession of coaches after Tunisia endured a difficult World Cup, losing all three group-stage matches under two different managers.
Chaabani arrives with an impressive coaching résumé, having guided Esperance Tunis to two CAF Champions League titles and five Tunisian league championships. He also enjoyed success in Morocco, leading RS Berkane to the league title after previous coaching stints in Egypt.

RS Berkane had earlier announced Chaabani’s departure, revealing that the coach was leaving to take charge of Tunisia despite having a contract with the club until 2027.
The Moroccan side said it agreed to release him in recognition of the significance of coaching the national team and praised his professionalism and contribution to the club’s achievements.
Chaabani becomes Tunisia’s fourth head coach this year and the eighth person to occupy the role since January 2024.
Tunisia had qualified for the World Cup without conceding a goal, despite changing coaches during the qualification campaign. However, following a disappointing Africa Cup of Nations exit and a poor World Cup showing, the federation opted for another managerial change in a bid to revive the national team’s fortunes.
