The Chairman of Kuje Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory, Samuel Shekwolo, has told residents who do not support the All Progressives Congress to leave the council ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Shekwolo made the remarks in a video circulating on social media on Tuesday while addressing residents and supporters.
The council chairman said his position was based on what he described as the developmental efforts of President Bola Tinubu and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike in Kuje.

He argued that residents benefiting from the administration’s interventions should not subsequently vote against the APC in the 2027 elections.
“I have said in my area council, it’s either you are doing APC or leave the area council. I’m not hiding that. With confidence, I’m saying it,” Shekwolo said.
He added that residents could not benefit from the work of the President and FCT Minister and then vote against the APC at the polls.
The comments have sparked concerns over the tone of political rhetoric as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections, particularly regarding citizens’ freedom to support parties of their choice.
Shekwolo was elected Kuje Area Council chairman on the APC platform in the February 2026 FCT Area Council election, securing 17,269 votes, according to the declared results.
