WIKE SLAMS BODE GEORGE: ‘FOUNDING FATHER WHO HAS WON NOTHING IN LAGOS’

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has criticised Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain Bode George over his claim of being one of the party’s founding fathers, questioning his political achievements in Lagos State.
Speaking during his monthly media chat on Tuesday, Wike argued that despite George’s long-standing role in the PDP, the party has failed to secure significant electoral victories in Lagos since 1999.
According to the minister, political relevance should be measured by tangible achievements rather than titles.
He maintained that while George describes himself as a founding father of the PDP, the party has been unable to win elections in Lagos under his influence.
Wike contrasted George’s record with his own political performance in Rivers State, insisting that leadership should be judged by results.
The minister also dismissed George’s allegation that he had inappropriate dealings with judges and constructed houses for judicial officers in the FCT.
He urged senior politicians to exercise caution in their public comments, noting that while elders deserve respect in traditional settings, political debates require accountability.
Wike further recalled George’s corruption trial, alleging that the PDP chieftain celebrated before the court delivered its verdict, only to be convicted afterward. He cited the incident as part of his criticism of George’s conduct and public statements.
