WORLD TEACHERS’ DAY: EKITI DECLARES OCTOBER 5 WORK-FREE FOR TEACHERS

The Ekiti State Government has declared Monday, October 5, 2026, a work-free day for teachers across the state to enable them to participate in activities marking the 2026 World Teachers’ Day.
The State Commissioner for Education, Dr Adebimpe Aderiye, announced the declaration in a statement issued on Saturday.
Aderiye also commended teachers in the state for their dedication and contributions to the development of education and the future of children in Ekiti.
She said, “The Ekiti State Government wishes to inform all teachers and members of the public that Monday, 5th October 2026, has been declared a work-free day for teachers in the state to enable them to participate fully in activities marking the 2026 World Teachers’ Day.”

The commissioner explained that, as a result of the declaration, all day students were expected to remain at home on Monday.
She urged parents, guardians, school authorities and students to take note of the development and make the necessary arrangements.
Aderiye further appreciated teachers for their commitment to educating children and contributing to the state’s human capital development.
“Happy World Teachers’ Day to all teachers,” she added.
World Teachers’ Day is celebrated annually on October 5 to recognise the contributions and achievements of teachers worldwide.
Meanwhile, the Kwara State Government has also declared Monday, October 5, 2026, a work-free day for teachers across the state in commemoration of World Teachers’ Day.
The declaration was contained in a statement issued on Friday by the Deputy Chief Press Secretary to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Mashood Agboola.
The governor extended his best wishes to teachers across Kwara and commended them for their contributions to human capital development and their resilience in carrying out their responsibilities.
