Nigerian singer Oludemilade Martin Alejo, popularly known as YCee, has spoken about his absence from the music scene in recent years.

During a recent livestream with streamer Cater Efe, the “Juice” crooner said he took a break from music to focus on personal growth and self-development.

He explained that the period was a journey of self-discovery, adding that he has now returned to music.

“I have been on the mountain. I went on a journey of self-discovery. But I am back,” he said.

YCee also shed light on the origin of his nickname “Omo Alhaji,” noting that his father is Muslim, although he himself is not a practicing Muslim.

The artist said his personal spiritual outlook is guided mainly by “love.”

Before his hiatus, YCee was prominent in the Nigerian music scene with hit songs such as “Jagaban,” “Juice,” and “Omo Alhaji,” among others.
