Residents of Gangansi area of Ibadan, Oyo State have been thrown into tragedy as a commercial motorcyclist identified as Abass committed suicide on Wednesday night, after owing several debts. One of the neighbors, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said Abass was a “gentle and easy going” youngman, adding that his wife did not live with him before his death.
He said, “The house belongs to his elder brother. He has children but his wife has left him. Someone saw his body dangling from the ceiling in the room and shouted. He was dead by that time. We saw a suicide note he left behind. He said he killed himself because of huge debts he owed people.” “All we know was that he came back home hale and healthy on Wednesday evening, but suddenly someone shouted when he saw him dangling from the ceiling of the house. It was the person that alerted us to the ugly incident. “On getting there we saw him up there, but we noticed one small paper beside him. We took it up and saw that he left a note where he wrote that he intentionally committed suicide because of too much debts he was owing people”, the man explained.
