The University of Ilorin Alumni Association, Lagos Chapter held its annual picnic/hangout at the Dr. Oluyomi Abayomi Finnih Recreational Park on Saturday 10th of December.

Members of the association – from different graduating classes from all departments of the prestigious federal institution – attended the occasion together with their loved ones.

The chairperson of the association, Engr. Iswat Lawal in her intoductory remarks, “welcomed the members present at the gathering before appreciating those who provided some token for the Makoko outreach the previous month.”

It can be recalled that hotjist.com reported that the association donated packages of food items to residents of the Makoko community on Saturday Novermber 13 as part of the it’s ways of contributing to the society.

Reacting to the number of association members that attened the event, Lawal stated that she “anticipated better turnout” urging members to “inform and invite their friends who are graduates of the institution and Lagos residents to join the association.”

The hangout came to a quick start with an opening prayer and recitation of the university anthem, after which each member took turns introducing themselves, their course of study and current occupation.

The event’s highlights included fun games in which every member took part before everyone had enough food and drink as well as opportunity to connect with one another.

The social secretary, Mrs. Seyilola Ogbonna, had earlier encouraged the young alumni members to take advantage of alumni gatherings,  stating that “the best relationships you can rely on are those made in Secondary school and university.

“Take this Alumni seriously, especially if you graduated in 2010 or after. We will pay more attention to you than random people will.”
