JEREMIAH IHEME EMERGES WINNER OF AFL ’90 MINUTES CHALLENGE’

Craftsman Bespoke’s Jeremiah Iheme has secured victory in the highly competitive 2024 Afrika Fashion League (AFL) 4.0. 90 Minutes Challenge.

The AFL90MinutesChallenge witnessed the participants navigating limited resources and the crucial task of selecting suitable sewing machines. Despite initial challenges, including the absence of eight finalists, the event maintained its momentum.

Held at the OSC College of Fashion, Adeniyi Jones Avenue, Lagos, the challenge had about eight contestants from across Nigeria showcase their skills.

Iheme’s remarkable apparel creation within the stipulated time frame impressed judges and audiences alike.

Renowned industry figures, Mrs. Temitope Olanre-Alade, Executive Director of Ibile Vogue/Zibah Academy of Arts, Sports & Technology, and Mr. Ovo Ogufere, CEO of Xa!, provided invaluable insights and guidance throughout the competition.

In a press release by the organizers, it was stated that Iheme’s innovative use of poker dots material and old denim pants captured attention, overcoming skepticism from studio minders.

It further affirmed that Iheme’s persistence and creativity earned him top honors, along with a suite of prizes including an industrial Sewing Machine, runway participation in a major Lagos fashion show, and business promotion on the Afrika Fashion League marketplace.

Additionally, Iheme will receive mentorship to refine his craft.

Securing second place was David Oluwabunmi Omojua of DMS Fashion Hub, recognized for her commendable fabric selection and elegant design simplicity.

Omojua was awarded a mannequin and one-year mentoring and business promotion on the Afrika Fashion League marketplace.

Adaramoye Olasanmi claimed third place with a captivating combination of African prints and denim, earning a special box of fashion design tools and similar mentoring and promotion benefits.

Furthermore, Okunola Titilope and Mojisola Lasisi-Alade will participate in the Ibile Vogue Academy mentorship program, each receiving four hundred thousand naira to nurture their creative talents.

Expressing his elation, Iheme remarked, “I am excited about this victory. I came prepared, and I am glad it turned out in my favor. Big thanks to the organizers; I am inspired to reach for bigger challenges.”

Adebayo Ilupeju, founder of Afrika Fashion League, extended gratitude to the judges, sponsors, and partners, highlighting their vital contributions to the event’s success.
