The Lagos State Police Command has stepped up its security presence in the Mushin area following a series of reported daytime assaults, harassment, and shop thefts perpetrated by teenage miscreants aged between 14 and 16.
In response to growing concerns from residents and traders, the Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, has ordered the deployment of additional tactical squads, including the Police Mobile Force (PMF) and other conventional units, to restore and maintain peace in Mushin and its adjoining communities.
According to a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the deployment is already yielding results. A coordinated police operation carried out on Monday led to the arrest of 23 suspects during targeted raids on known black spots and criminal hideouts in Ishaga, Awolowo, and Ojuwoye markets.
“These individuals are currently under investigation and will be charged to court shortly. The raids will continue until Mushin is completely rid of these hoodlums,” the statement read.
The Commissioner of Police has also directed the Area Commander responsible for Mushin to work closely with the chairmen of the two local governments covering the area. The collaborative effort has produced a new security strategy aimed at strengthening protection for residents and traders.
Reassuring the public, CP Jimoh emphasized that normalcy has been restored to Mushin and urged Lagosians to go about their lawful activities without fear. He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to maintaining law and order across the state.
“The safety and security of the good people of Lagos remain our top priority,” said CP Jimoh.
The Police Command is also urging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station, assuring the public of swift and decisive action.
