The Imo State Police Command has arrested a 39-year-old man, Ifeanyi Odinka, for allegedly stabbing his 75-year-old father, Dennis Odinka, to death following a dispute over proceeds from a land sale in Orlu.

Police spokesperson Henry Okoye, in a statement on Wednesday, said operatives of the Orlu Division apprehended Odinka on August 12, 2025. The suspect, who hails from Amaifeke in Orlu Local Government Area, reportedly confessed to the crime during interrogation. He has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Owerri, for further investigation and prosecution.

In a separate incident, police operatives in Orlu arrested 32-year-old Pastor Ikenna Emmanuel of Authentic Power City Church, Umuobom, Ideato South LGA, alongside his accomplice, Franklin Chizoba, for allegedly raping a 20-year-old woman under the guise of offering special prayers.

Okoye disclosed that on June 30, 2025, the suspects lured the victim to the pastor’s residence, where Emmanuel allegedly gave her a drug-laced drink. She became dizzy, after which both men reportedly had unlawful carnal knowledge of her.

During interrogation, the duo allegedly confessed to the crime and admitted to engaging in homosexual acts. They were charged to court on August 12, 2025, and remanded at the Owerri Correctional Facility pending trial.

The police command reaffirmed its commitment to tackling crime and ensuring residents’ safety, urging members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station or via 0803 477 3600.
